About Write On! Albania

Albania joined the Write On! family in 2011. It is organized and implemented by Peace Corps volunteers serving throughout the country. The project was paused due to the pandemic but was restarted in 2024. We have volunteers in over 20 cities around Albania that hold creative writing groups for school children ranging from 6th grade all the way through 12th grade. These classes are designed to inspire creativity, to learn how to think outside of the box, and how to have fun with writing.

How do I get involved?

To get involved, you can email or write us on Instagram with your name, grade level, and city where you live. We can then put you in contact with the local volunteer in your city so that you can start participating in their writing groups and/or the annual writing competition. Who can participate?

The Write On! groups and competition is open to all students living in Albania from 6th grade through 12th grade.

How much does it cost?

Write On! is FREE for everyone!

What are the requirements to participate in the competition?

There are two requirements to participate in the Write On! Competition:

You must be an Albanian student in 6th grade - 12th grade
You must write in English. Although grammar and spelling will not have an affect on your overall score, the competition requires that all essays are written in English.

When is the competition?

The 2024 competition was held from April 8 to April 22. All essays must be turned in by April 26th. Essays will be judged on April 27th and winners announced in the coming days after. What do the winners of the competition win?

Each grade level will have 3 winners: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place. Each winner will be given a certificate of excellence and will have be given a prize from our sponsors.

Also, some of the winning esssays will be selected to represent Albania in the International Writing On! Competition with many other countries in Europe.
